Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy helps rehabilitate or relieve pain for individuals with physical problems secondary to accidents, surgery, congenital defects or degenerative conditions. Patients are referred to Physical Therapy for a wide variety of diagnoses, including:

wound care
sports injuries
post joint replacements
neck or back pain
arthritic pain
osteoporosis
post stroke or other neurological conditions
work related injuries
post surgical repair of joint or muscle injury
amputations
other joint or muscle injuries

The Physical Therapy staff serves inpatients and outpatients at Pender Community Hospital. They work closely with physicians, nursing staff and other rehabilitation professionals in order to provide appropriate care. Their ultimate goal is to prevent or treat the injury, educate the patient & families and assist the patient in reaching their safest level of independence. Treatment may include palliative modalities, ambulation, strengthening, coordination, balance or range of motion.

Pender Community Hospital's Physical Therapy department is located in the lower level of the hospital and is adequately equipped with private treatment rooms & a gym which is stocked with appropriate exercise equipment including a treadmill, bikes, weights and other exercise and treatment devices.

Staff includes two full time physical therapists who evaluate the patient on their first visit and develop a treatment program for each individual according to their needs. The therapists also do periodic assessments for progression of treatment and communicates with the physician to update them on patient progress. There is also a full time physical therapist assistant and a technician who assist the therapists in treatment.

The staff is licensed by the state of Nebraska and are dedicated to providing high quality service and care to patients at Pender Community Hospital.

Physical Therapy services are available by appointment Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Doctor referrals are not required but are highly recommended in order to satisfy most insurance requirments.
