SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED

Brianna Tonjes, a student enrolled in the Physical Therapy Assistant program at Northeast Community College, has been awarded the "2006 Merlin Brondum Memorial Scholarship". This award is granted annually as a joint scholarship program sponsored by Pender Community Hospital, Pender Community Health Care Foundation, Pender Medical Clinic, and Mercy Medical Center. The scholarship award is open to all college students enrolled in an Allied Health field of study who reside in the Pender Hospital District.

Brianna has participated in a variety of work experiences that have prepared her for the health and fitness field. She enjoyed high school athletics, horseback riding, lifeguarding, and work as a physical therapy tech. She was selected based on academic performance, health care experience, financial need, career objective, and community activities.
