This $2500 scholarship will be awarded in Merlin's name to a college student who has been accepted or enrolled into an allied healthcare course of study. Examples include schools of Nursing, Medical Technology, Radiographic Technology, Physical Therapy and Pharmacy. The recipient must be a resident of Thurston, Cuming, Burt, Dixon, Dakota, or Wayne counties. This scholarship is established in memory of Merlin Brondum's dedication to rural healthcare. The sponsoring organizations include the Pender Community Hospital, Pender Community HealthCare Foundation, Pender Mercy Medical Clinic and Mercy Medical Center-Sioux City.
