RELAY FOR LIFE

Pender Community Hospital is sponsoring a team to participate in the Cuming County Relay for Life event, July 18, 2008. A major fundraiser for the American Cancer society, Relay for life celebrates cancer patients, their families and friends. The event is a fun filled overnight event designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer in our community. Teams of people camp out at West Point Public High School track and take turns walking or running around the track for 12 hours. Those that have been lost to cancer and those that are survivors are remembered and celebrated. The relay includes a survivors lap, food, entertainment and a luminary lighting ceremony at dusk.

The Pender Community Hospital team has been raising money by asking area businesses for donations, sponsoring a Picnic Lunch for employees and friends and families with a free will donation and will host a bake sale on Tuesday June 17th for the community. They will also be making bracelets to be sold at the bake sale. They will be sponsoring various fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for future Relay for Life events.

Team members include: Kelly Kaup, Holly Kinning, Dee Moeller, LeAnn Spangler, Rita Brehmer, Gail Brondum, Dana French, Michelle Lortz, Flora Lehmkuhl, Jane Jacobsen, Nancy Suhr, Mary Tonjes, Mike Hansen, Emma Kubik, Linda Simonsen, Cathy Simonsen, and Deb Suhr.
