New CEO Appointed

The Board of Directors of the Pender Community Hospital has announced the appointment of Michael T. Hansen to the position of Chief Executive Officer. Hansen is overseeing the operations of both the Pender Community Hospital and Pender Care Centre.

Hansen came to Pender from Spencer, Iowa, where he served as vice president at the Spencer Community Hospital. He was responsible for the operations including ancillary and clinical support services, medical staff relations-recruitment, construction and human resource management. He received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, La. and holds master's degrees in Health Service Management and Human Resources Development from Webster University in San Antonio, Texas.

After an extensive search for a new CEO to replace Roger Mazour, who passed away unexpectedly in April, the board decided to hire Mr. Hansen. He demonstrated the best leadership skills required for both the Pender Community Hospital and Pender Care Centre. His extensive experience in multi-million dollar construction projects will be invaluable as we continue to renovate the hospital and care center and plan for an assisted living center.

Mr. Hansen has two daughters, Michelle 19 and Katie 9 both living in Texas. He has been active in many civic groups in the communities that he has worked in and we look forward to him being a visible and active member of the Pender community.
