The Pender Community Hospital District has donated $30,000 toward the purchase of a new rescue squad for the Pender community. This donation, along with funds from the Village of Pender and Pender's Rural Fire District, will help to pay the approximate $127,000 cost of the rescue unit. The new squad will provide state of the art equipment and more comfort to patients and is expected to arrive in the next few months. It will replace the current primary rescue unit, which will be retained as a secondary squad. The secondary unit will be used by the Thurston rescue squad.
